Our Story
Pawlyn began on a cold February morning in a small Brooklyn apartment, not in a boardroom.
Six friends, six different pets, one shared frustration: we kept buying products that looked great online and fell apart in real life. A carrier zipper that broke on the subway. A grooming brush our cat hated within a day. A water bottle that leaked through a backpack on a weekend trip upstate. We loved our pets fiercely, but the market wasn't built for people like us — busy, careful, and unwilling to settle.
So we did something a little reckless. We pooled our savings, sat around one laptop late into the night, and started building the pet brand we wished existed. No investors, no warehouse, no big plan — just six people in New York who believed pets deserved better, and that "better" didn't have to mean "expensive" or "complicated."
The first few months were humbling. We tested products ourselves, on our own dogs and cats, in tiny apartments with thin walls and even thinner patience. We shipped orders out of a shared storage unit. We answered every customer email personally, because there was no one else to do it. There were nights we wondered if we'd made a huge mistake.
But then the messages started coming in. A woman in Ohio told us her senior dog finally ate his meals slowly and safely, without choking, thanks to one of our feeders. A father in Texas sent us a photo of his daughter and her new puppy curled up in a Pawlyn bed, saying it was the first night the puppy didn't cry. A vet tech in Arizona reached out just to say our grooming tools were the first ones her anxious rescue cat didn't fight her over.
That's when we understood what we were really building. Not just products — moments. Quiet, ordinary moments between people and the animals they love, made just a little easier, a little softer, a little more joyful.
Today, Pawlyn is still just the six of us. Still in New York. Still testing everything ourselves before it reaches your door. We haven't scaled into some faceless warehouse operation, and we don't plan to. Every order is a reminder of why we started: because pets give us everything, and they deserve products made with the same care they give us every single day.
